It's funny you mention not unit testing prototypes. If what I'm prototyping isn't UI related, I tend to use a unit test framework as the way I execute the code. :-D

I have some things that are similar because the test harness is the absolute easiest way for me to wire up execution repeatedly 🙂
The difference for me ends up being that I'm not trying to build robust coverage at that point
